Project Description

The Coastal Conservation Association’s Building Conservation Trust of Houston, Texas was awarded $10,000 for their Florida Coastal Habitat Initiative to create an artificial reef off the coastline of Volusia County, Florida.

Funding was used to prepare and deploy the 150’ Lady Philomena vessel approximately nine miles offshore in 75′ depth in a site designated for artificial reef development. The deployment of the Lady Philomena will create near-instant habitat for marine life and an immediate resource for the local communities of Florida.

The addition of habitat and resulting enhancement of marine life will attract anglers and divers for generations to come.
